For over 25 years I have provided mental health counseling as a psychotherapist. Over the years I have treated teens, adults, couples and families presenting with a wide range of problems. While managing my own practice, I have developed a model that merges professionalism and clinical skill with warmth and care. I create a supportive therapeutic environment in which people can safely explore and discuss intimate and difficult emotions, memories of the past and challenges of the present day. My high level of skill and my caring approach facilitate a successful outcome.
Relying on principles and ethics that honor individual choice, confidentiality, and freedom of lifestyle choice. I successfully create a meaningful connection with my clients and join them in the process of healing. My style is grounded in empathy and attunement. Being mindful of emotions and thoughts enable me to work in a non-judgmental manner thus empowering you to be less judgmental and self- critical, and allowing you to discover and tap into your strengths, to make the changes you desire. Helping people to realize their strengths and change dysfunctional patterns leads to a successful outcome.
In individual work with teens and adults, I rely on the principles of psychodynamic psychotherapy, integrating techniques and theories that are client centered and proven effective. These techniques include empathic listening, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), self psychology and mindfulness and psychoeducation.
I work with couples to identify underlying issues impacting their relationships and help them to develop and strengthen communication and problem solving skills. My approach is strengths based, using methods that maximizes hope and diminishes stress and discord. I work with parents and families to help repair relationships that have become estranged through divorce, or which have histories of high conflict interactions.
